General Information: Separation anxiety in dogs is characterized by an excessive attachment or dependency on their family members, leading to extreme anxiety and distress behaviors such as vocalization, destruction, or house soiling when separated from their owners. These dogs typically try to stay close to their owners, following them from room to room and rarely spending time outdoors alone. The anxiety often manifests through vocalization, destructive behavior, or elimination either as the owners prepare to leave or shortly after their departure. Destructive activities are frequently directed at the owner's possessions, doors where the owners exit, or areas where the dog is confined, usually occurring soon after the owners leave.
